Since January 2008, RusHydro’s power plants have been operating at a total installed capacity of 25,010 MW.
In the first six months of 2008, the hydrological situation and the operating conditions set by the Federal Water Resources Agency were less favorable for electricity production by RusHydro’s hydropower plants. In the second quarter, the inflow of water into the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama Cascade of HPPs and of the Siberian rivers was 15% to 45% and 15% to 50% below the long-term annual average, respectively. The total water inflow into the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama Cascade of HPPs amounted to 131 cu km, compared with the long-term annual average of 161 cu km.
Notwithstanding the unfavorable conditions, JSC RusHydro ensured reliable and uninterrupted production of electricity and its timely delivery to consumers on the wholesale electricity and capacity market in the first six months of 2008. In the period under review, the output of electricity amounted to 40,524.4 million kWh (97% of the target figure) and its productive supply, 39,649.5 million kWh (97% of the target figure). Rehabilitation and technical upgrading of equipment, buildings and structures were carried out on time and in full.
It will be recalled that on July 26, 2008, the first 150 MW turbogenerator unit was placed under load at the Bureiskaya HPP. This capacity gain was due to the first unit’s resetting to gross head operation.
Thus, the installed capacity of RusHydro at present totals 25,160 MW.
