On meeting of Coordinating Committee for Strategic Cooperation between Gazprom and BASF SE

On September 13–14 Kazan hosted a meeting of the Coordinating Committee for Strategic Cooperation between Gazprom and BASF SE under the chairmanship of Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Dr. Hans-Ulrich Engel, Member of the BASF SE Board of Executive Directors.

The Coordinating Committee members and working group chairs reported on the current state of affairs with regard to the projects and activities being implemented by Gazprom and BASF SE/Wintershall Holding AG.

The meeting addressed information on the execution of the Nord Stream project where Gazprom and BASF/Wintershall Holding are partners as well as on the construction of the Gryazovets – Vyborg gas pipeline and the German OPAL and NEL gas trunklines.

The parties expressed content with the progress in developing block 1A of the Achimov deposits in the Urengoy field, as well as in the cooperation within the Yuzhno-Russkoye field project. An emphasis was placed on the successful interaction between Gazprom and BASF/Wintershall Holding in experience sharing and staff training.

The meeting thoroughly explored the prospects for further partnership in the petrochemical industry and discussed the results of the Mutually Beneficial Cooperation with BASF in the Chemical Sector workshop held in Surgut this February.

In addition, the Coordinating Committee heard reports on the sci-tech cooperation between Gazprom and Wintershall Holding AG.

 

Background:

BASF SE is one of the world’s leading gas and petrochemical companies. Its major business lines are: production of chemicals, synthetic materials, plant protection products as well as production and transportation of hydrocarbons.

Wintershall Holding AG is a BASF wholly owned subsidiary operating in the energy sector. Gazprom and Wintershall Holding have been collaborating for nearly 20 years. The companies have established WINGAS and WIEH joint ventures.

BASF SE and Wintershall Holding AG are partners of Gazprom in developing the Yuzhno-Russkoye oil and gas field and the first pilot block of the Achimov deposits in the Urengoy oil, gas and condensate field, as well as in constructing the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
