Power Machines to modernize the TPP in Macedonia

Power Machines Group and Energy Department of Macedonia signed a Contract  for modernization of three power units of TPP Bitola (Makedonia). The price of the contract exceeds 20 million US$. The Project will be financed on account of the debt of the former USSR to the former UFRY.

In accordance with the terms of the Contract Power Machines shall supply three new rotors for each turbine, carry out modernization of cylinders of intermediate and high pressure as well as control systems.

In order to prevent accidents and provide operation stability of the existing power units, special rotor shaft radial oil seal and reinforcing parts for stator winding front parts fastening for generators will be produced.

Modernization works will last till September 2005. The first power unit will be modernized by the end of 2004, the second and third power units - by September 2005. As a result the capacity of each unit will be increased by 10% MW - up to 235 MW.

In 1978-1984 the units for TPP Bitola were manufactured at Russian plants, branches of the Power Machines Group, – Leningradsky Metallichesky Zavod and Electrosila. Years of faultless service of the units provided for trust to products of Power Machines Group and lead to great interest from the part of Customer to have the Plant reconstructed by the original manufacturer of the equipment.

In the 1994 during the first modernization the capacity of the existing three power units increased from 210 to 225 MW.
