GAZPROM

October 10, 2013

On occasion of 40th anniversary since first Russian gas supplies to Federal Republic of Germany we launch German language website

Today, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary since the first Russian gas supplies to the Federal Republic of Germany, Gazprom has launched a German language version of the official website. Germany is a long-standing and by far the largest Russian gas consumer abroad, and German companies proactively cooperate with Gazprom within prominent energy projects.

The target audience of the new German language website includes our customers and partners in Germany, German reporters and investors, as well as everyone who speaks German and is interested in Gazprom.

On the website we use plain language to tell about our company, Russian gas and joint projects.

Background

On October 1, 1973 Russian gas was first supplied to the Federal Republic of Germany and a little earlier, on May 1 of the same year – to the German Democratic Republic. Over 40 years Russian gas deliveries to German consumers have exceeded 1 trillion cubic meters. In 2012 Gazprom supplied Germany with 34 billion cubic meters of gas, in 2013 – with 27.2 billion (as of early October). Gazprom’s share in Germany’s overall gas import is around 40 per cent.

Gazprom’s major partners in Germany are BASF, E.ON, Siemens and Verbundnetz Gas.

The main areas of cooperation are as follows: natural gas supply, transmission, storage and sales, large infrastructure projects, gas production in Russia and other countries, scientific and technical cooperation, as well as interaction in the power generation sector.
