ROSSETI

September 5, 2019

"Payment for electric grid power reserve will be beneficial for the efficiency of the industry" said Alexander Novak

On the second day of the Eastern Economic Forum, Pavel Livinskiy, General Director of Rosseti, took part in the panel discussion “A Leap Forward in Energy: Efficiency, Innovation, Environmental Sustainability” organized in partnership with Rosseti Group.

During the discussion attended by Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, and heads of leading energy companies of Russia, the Head of the electric grid holding, for instance, spoke about the strategic priorities of Rosseti related to the digital transformation of the electric grid complex.

Pavel Livinskiy also made a point of the great investment potential of the company, while noting that the best financial results can objectively be achieved through regulatory changes.

Alexander Novak backed the Head of Rosseti and emphasized that the Government is preparing a set of appropriate measures. In particular, the Head of the Energy department named the draft resolution on payment for unused capacity reserve.

“This will become an effective mechanism for encouraging consumers to turn down existing surpluses. That will enable to redistribute unused reserves to consumers who really need it, without additional construction costs,” said Alexander Novak.

The Minister recalled that in fact, 90% of the substations and networks built in recent years are not actually used today; however, power engineers service them.
