COMSTAR adds unlimited WiMAX payment profiles to their existing wireline internet

29 July 2010, Moscow. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS announced the launching of new payment profiles for COMSTAR-WiMAX mobile wireless Internet access starting August 2, 2010.

The new series of payment profiles consists of 4 options to cover the whole range of subscriber demands. Now, apart from no-subscription-fee payment profiles featuring fixed traffic volume, COMSTAR-UTS offers unlimited payment profiles for their users. In particular, they launch an unlimited WiMAX Internet access payment profile at a monthly subscription fee of 690 rubles, and an ADSL fixed Internet access at a data rate of 6 Mbps with an unlimited WiMAX access for all MTS STREAM subscribers at a monthly subscription fee of 790 rubles.

“Today our users want to get complex wireline and wireless Internet access services for 700 to 800 rubles per month. It is this type of offer that we launch on our Moscow market. Our subscribers may use wireline access for intensive Internet activities and downloading heavy-traffic content at home, while using COMSTAR WiMAX Internet access outdoors,” Alexander Gorbunov, COMSTAR-UTS Strategy and Development Vice President, noticed.

Along with this offer, COMSTAR-UTS also launch new equipment for WiMAX network access: USB modem and WiMAX/Wi-Fi router.
A new USB modem is equipped with internal memory and localized Russian software.

Wi-Fi/WiMAX router (Wi-Spot) with a built-in battery automatically connects to WiMAX network after its power supply has been switched on, and creates a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot in its neighbourhood.

WiMAX equipment will be widely represented in Moscow retail chains. One may subscribe to COMSTAR-WiMAX while staying at home and “in a matter of minutes” accepting the provisions of public offer and just submitting their subscription data and an activation code received via SMS at the following service Web site: https://wimax.comstar.ru/abonent.

New payment profiles retain an option of subscription to COMSTAR-WiMAX network services both using COMSTAR modems and all laptop models equipped with built-in WiMAX modules.
