Andrey Sorochinsky elected as Lenenergo’s new Director General

As IDGC Holding received an employment contract termination application from Director General of Lenenergo Dmitry Ryabov, the Management Board of IDGC Holding considered on July 28, 2010, the candidacy of Deputy Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Energy and Engineering Support Committee Andrey Sorochinsky for the post of the Director General of Lenenergo. Andrey Sorochinsky’s nomination was approved by the Lenenergo Nomination and Remuneration Committee. The Board of Directors of Lenenergo elected Andrey Sorochinsky the Director General on July 30, 2010.

On July 31, 2010, Deputy Director General and Head of the Administrative Office Alexander Popov introduced the new Director General to Lenenergo personnel and awarded Dmitry Ryabov a certificate of honor for a valuable personal contribution to the development of the electricity industry and electricity distribution grid company. Dmitry Ryabov took charge of Lenenergo in April 2008. Under his leadership, Lenenergo successfully achieved its goals, ensuring the uninterrupted and high quality electricity supply. The Government of the Russian Federation included Lenenergo in 2009 in the List of Backbone Organizations of Strategic Importance. Lenenergo was recognized as the Best Taxpayer of the Northern Capital. “I felt very honored to be in charge of Russia’s oldest energy system, Lenenergo, for these years,” Dmitry Ryabov said after receiving the award. “The achievements are the result of joint work done by the company’s entire personnel.”

Andrey Sorochinsky, born 1975, graduated from the Saint Petersburg State University, majoring in Theoretical Economics as an Economist/Teacher of Economics. Andrey Sorochinsky received a candidate of science (economics) degree in 2001. He defended a dissertation on the investment crisis in contemporary Russia and the role of the fuel and energy sector in overcoming the crisis. From January 1998, he worked for the Saint Petersburg Administration, beginning as a lead specialist and reaching the position of a deputy division head of the Saint Petersburg Municipal Property Management Committee. From February 2002 to July 2004, he worked as the head of the secretariat and the deputy director general for bidding of the Saint Petersburg-based state institution Investment Directorate. From July 2004 to August 2010, before being appointed Lenenergo’s Director General, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Energy and Engineering Support Committee. He has certificates of honor awarded by the Russian Ministry of Regional Development and the Saint Petersburg Governor.

IDGC Holding views as the priorities of Lenenergo’s new chief executive the completion of preparations for the 2010/2011 heat deficit period and successful operation during the period, and the resolution of receivables settlement issues. Andrey Sorochinsky is supposed to continue constructive dialog with governmental authorities about the transition of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to RAB-based tariff regulation and take measures to further the development of electric grid infrastructure in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

Lenenergo is a subsidiary of IDGC Holding (50.31% of ordinary shares). Its area of responsibility covers Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Nine branches of the company service over 6.2 million people. The total length of overhead transmission lines is 35.9 thousand kilometers.
