Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC carries out reconstruction work on the 110/10 KV Klinicheskaya substation in Samara. The project was mainly aimed at the reliability enhancement of the power supply of customers in the Oktyabrsky, Leninsky and Sovetsky Districts of the city. Furthermore, as a result of the substation modernization, it will be possible to connect new houses, offices and social facilities to the electrical grids. As part of the reconstruction, begun in 2007, the power engineers renewed the worn out equipment. Two new distributing devices with a capacity of 110 and 35 kilovolts were constructed, the complete distribution device designed to receive and distribute electricity was replaced. The ground-fault reactor, the current-limiting inductor and the auxiliary transformer were replaced. The current measures are aimed at the reliability enhancement of the substation operation and they will allow to reduce substantially the likelihood of an emergency shutdown risk in the future. At this stage all customers serviced by the Klinicheskaya substation are now receiving their power from the new equipment. The total cost of the reconstruction work for the current facility is more than 150 million roubles. This sum will be completely allocated by the Samara Distribution Grids by the end of 2010.
