Mordovenergo prepared for spring flooding

To secure uninterrupted power supply of consumers during the flood period, Mordovenergo, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (subsidiary of Rosseti, PJSC), takes a number of preparatory, organizational and technical measures.
The branch formed a special flood control commission and conducted briefings and emergency response trainings to work out aligned actions of the staff required to deal with flooding of equipment and resulting damage. Mordovenergo established close contacts with central and regional flood control commissions and with EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Mordovia. Mordovenergo’s emergency teams consisting of operating and maintenance staff will be on duty throughout the flood season. Mobile and stationary pumping equipment, off-road vehicles, lifting devices, motor transport and communication tools have been prepared for probable emergency response actions and scheduled measures.
Mordovenergo stocked up with emergency response equipment and materials, inspected power transmission lines and substations at risk, sealed cable and pipe conduits, checked drain pumps and cleaned drainage ditches near substations, buildings and structures. The spring flooding situation is being monitored on a daily basis, data being exchanged between the branch and Met Office of the Republic of Mordovia. All power facilities that might be flooded or damaged due to the spring flood are being continuously controlled.
Mordovenergo warns that the thaw may cause flooding of power facilities (power transmission lines, substations, transformer substations and package transformer substations) and increased electric shock hazards near flooded facilities due to shorter distance between power wires and floating crafts and wet conductive atmosphere.
To avoid electric shock injuries, the following precautions shall be taken.
Avoid:
 — coming closer to flooded power facilities (including power line supports) than 25 m;
— floating on ponds (including flood water basins) near power transmission lines, if the distance between wires and floating crafts, cargo, equipment or people is shorter than 5 m;
 — working in a right-of-way without prior consent of an operator of the power transmission line.
If you notice any damaged power transmission line, please call our hotline at: 8-800-775-16-42.
