Gazprom brings onstream first stage of gas lateral to Khunzakh settlement in Dagestan Republic

The Khunzakh District, Republic of Dagestan, hosted today celebrations dedicated to bringing onstream the first stage of the gas lateral to the Khunzakh settlement.

The celebrations were attended by Gazprom’s delegation led by Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee; Maxim Bystrov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian Federation President to the North Caucasus Federal Okrug; Magomedsalam Magomedov, President of the Republic of Dagestan; heads of the Khunzakh District’s municipalities and public representatives.

“Construction of the gas lateral to Khunzakh has become a milestone in the Dagestan gasification process. The gas pipeline will gasify 62 population centers in the Khunzakh and Gumbet Districts of the Republic. Therefore, another 33.5 thousand of our fellow countrymen living mostly in highlands will take advantage of the benefits of natural gas – the most convenient and environmentally friendly fuel. Our objective in Dagestan, as well as throughout Russia, is to reach the maximum economically expedient level of gasification. And we will meet this objective,” emphasized Valery Golubev.

Background:

Having the nominal capacity of some 400 million cubic meters per annum, the gas lateral to Khunzakh stretches for 42.8 kilometers. So far, the first stage of the gas lateral has been completed including the linear part and the gas distribution station of Khunzakh. In 2010 it is projected to finish the construction of the pipeline’s second stage with another three gas distribution stations.

The gas lateral to Khunzakh will help gasify some 10.5 thousand households, 322 utility and production facilities in 62 population centers of Dagestan.
