Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman issued a Directive to name Gasan Nabiev as Volgogradtransgaz’s Director General.

Born in 1954, G. Nabiev graduated in 1976 from the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. G. Nabiev started his career as Engineer-Constructor with the USSR Gas Industry Ministry’s Volgogradneftemash Science and Production Association.

Over 1986 to 1998, Mr. Nabiev served as Director of Russian Joint-Stock Company Gazprom’s Volgogradneftemash’s Kotelnikovo Valve Plant.

Between 1998 and 2004, G. Nabiev held the post of the Director General of Open Joint-Stock Company Gazprom’s Volgogradneftemash.

Viktor Lebedinsky, previously serving as Volgogradtransgaz’s Director General, tragically perished on 24 August 2004 in an airplane crash.

Volgogradtransgaz is a 100% Gazprom gas transmission subsidiary. The company operates some 6.9 km of gas mains and 25 compressor shops equipped with 171 gas-pumping units each having a 1,485.7 thousand installed capacity.

Over 2003, Volgogradtransgaz transmitted 95.3 bcm of gas.

The company owns 225 gas distribution and 4 automobile gas-fuelling compressor stations.

Volgogradtransgaz is currently involved in the construction of Europe’s largest underground gas storage facility (UGSF) situated in rock salt formations 30 km off the city of Volgograd. The UGSF is projected to have a 800 mln cu m throughput and a 70 mln cu m daily capacity.
