North-West Telecom

North-West Telecom has implemented Zlock system controlling access to external devices

In June 2010, implementation of Zlock, a system controlling access to external devices by the Russian developer SecurIT, was completed in all of the regional branches of N.W.Telecom. The system ensures protects personal data against leakage via computer peripherals of users of information systems processing personal data (PDIS.)*

The Zlock information leak protection system is intended for monitoring of local computers and corporate notebooks to protect them against unauthorized use of USB drives, WiFi and Bluetooth devices, network cards, modems, FDD-, CD- and DVD-drives, hard disks, COM and LPT ports, and local and network printers. The connected devices may be identified by any attribute, such as device class manufacturer code, device code, serial No. etc. This enables assigning different rights of access to devices of one class. For instance, the use of USB flash disks may be forbidden, while permitting the use of USB keys for user identification.

Additionally, the Zlock system allows archiving of information recorded on external media and printed with local and network printers. Zlock is controlled via a control console common for all IPC solutions of SecurIT.

“A priority task for any communication operator is to protect its subscribers’ data. Reliable protection against data leakage requires managerial actions and up-to-date solutions,” notes Sergey K. Novgorodsky, Associate CEO (Security) of N.W.Telecom. “Reliability is the main requirement for products of such class, where any error, even a slight one, may affect business processes of the communication operator. In the process of implementation and operation, Zlock has proved to be a reliable, adaptable, and sufficiently easy solution for protection against information leakage.”

SecurIT is a Russian developer of IPC-class solutions (Information Protection and Control), i.e. sets enabling protection of information against internal threats to information security. The SecurIT solutions minimize the risks of intended and accidental leakage of confidential information.
