GAZPROM

March 23, 2004

Gazprom took part in the international forum "Energy and society"

On March 23-24, Moscow hosts the 5th Moscow International Forum “Energy and Society”, held under the auspices of the International Energy Agency and dedicated to “Russia’s Energy Strategy: Challenges, Development Priorities, Global Energy Market”.

Representatives from the RF executive and legislative bodies, research organizations and the largest energy companies, Gazprom, inclusive, are taking part in the Forum.

Alexander Kalinkin, Deputy Head of Gazprom’s Gas, Gas Condensate and Oil Production Department, presented a report titled “The Gas Industry Development Optimization is a Factor of the Country’s Sustainable Economic Expansion”.

A. Kalinkin touched upon the outlook of Gazprom’s operations in prospecting, producing and processing natural gas, developing the gas transmission system and UGS facilities, promoting ecology.

Within the next 6-7 years, the decline in gas production at Gazprom’s basic fields (the Urengoiskoye, Yamburgskoye and Medvezhye ones) will be offset and gas extraction build-up will be achieved by bringing the Zapolyarnoye field to its design capacity, commissioning the Pestsovoye, Yety-Purovskoye, Yuzhno-Russkoye fields, developing the Aneryakhinskaya and Kharvutinskaya areas of the Yamburgskoye gas and condensate field as well as developing relatively small-sized satellite fields-in the Nadym-Pur-Taz region.

The strategic task to lastingly maintain the necessary level of gas production envisages development of the Yamal Peninsula fields and adjoining offshore territories as well as development of the East Siberian and Far Eastern hydrocarbon reserves.

It is for the 1st time since its foundation that the Forum assigned public awards of the N.K. Baibakov Energy Association for the contribution into the Russian fuel and energy complex development. 10 representatives from Gazprom’s subsidiaries entered the list of the Forum prize winners:

  • Urengoigazprom – Rim Suleimanov, Anatoly Kulkov;
  • Yamburggazdobycha – Oleg Andreev, Anatoly Arabsky, Vladimir Borovikov, Anatoly Fomin;
  • Volgogradtransgaz – Viktor Lebedinsky, Alexander Talyzin;
