Moscow, 17 August 2004. Repair crews of OAO Kubanenergo are restoring power to the cities, towns, and villages of Krasnodar Kray. The squall accompanied with heavy rain and hail caused massive damages to the transmission lines in Otradnensky District.
By now, 14 repair crews of OAO Kubanenergo have restored seven out of the ten 10 kV transmission lines and 230 of 300 transformer substations. As a result, power has been restored to most inhabited localities hit by the storm during the night of 15-16 August.
The actions taken by the Kuban's energy workers and the district authorities prevented power blackouts at the important social infrastructure facilities (hospitals, schools, water intake facilities) by promptly switching them to stand-alone sources of power.
By 6:00 a.m. on 17 August, the repair teams of OAO Kubanenergo restored power to the households of Otradnensky District with 20,000 residents. The energy company's crews expect to restore power to most household consumers by the end of the day, and to fully restore power in the area during the next day.
