Gazprom’s Headquarters today has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee and Mukhu Aliyev, President of the Republic of Dagestan.

The parties reviewed the implementation of an Agreement on cooperation between Gazprom and the Republic of Dagestan as well as regional gasification issues. A focus was placed on the foundation of a Dagestani based integrated gas distribution organization and Gazprom’s involvement in hydrocarbon field development on the Republican territory.

Special attention was paid to the issue of clearing Dagestani consumers’ arrears for the gas supplied.

The Republic of Dagestan and Gazprom signed the five-year Agreement on cooperation in September 2003.

Over 2004 Gazprom has provided the Republic with some 2.5 bcm of gas.

Dagestan is currently gasified by 96.2 per cent including 98.1 per cent in cities, towns & population centers and 27.9 per cent in rural area. The identical Russia-averaged parameters make up 53, 60 and 34 per cent, respectively.

At present, three gas distribution organizations operate in Dagestan, with one of these owned by Mezhregiongaz.
