NLMK has successfully passed a supervision audit of the compliance of its Quality Management System with the international standard ISO/TU 16949:2002 «Quality Management Systems. Specific requirements to the application of ISO 9001:2000 in the automotive industry and by spare parts manufactures». The audit was carried out by the certification agency TÜV CERT (Germany).

As part of NLMK’s Quality Management System, the certification process, standard documentation, activities of the plants (shops) and technical services related to the production of the automotive sheet were audited.

The auditors confirmed the compliance of the technical and organizational levels of the Company, as well as all NLMK Quality Management System processes to the international requirements for the automotive industry.

For reference:
The requirements of the international standard ISO/TU 16949:2002 are based on the the standard ISO 9001:2000, which is stricter. The certification for compliance to the ISO/TU 16949:2002 requirements is an acknowledgement that a manufacturer is a potential supplier for the world automotive industry.
In 2004 NLMK was the first among the steel companies in Russia to certify for compliance of  its Quality Management System with  the requirements of the international standard ISO/TU 16949:2002. In 2007 the Company passed successfully the re-certification audit to extend the certificate application into the steel-making and was granted a new compliance certificate, which is valid for three years.
