Gazprom and Siemens AG have signed Memorandum of understanding

Today within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2010 Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Peter Löscher, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on collaboration in the field of liquefied natural gas.

According to the document the parties will examine the possibility of using Siemens equipment at the constructed experimental-industrial unit for the production of LNG, as well as the production of Siemens’ compressors, drives and electrical equipment at Russian plants. In addition, the companies will conduct research as part of work on the second and third phases of development of the Shtokman gas condensate field.

“Siemens AG is the world leader in energy machinery development. We are glad to cooperate with this company in new and promising areas. We hope that the Memorandum signed today will open up good opportunities for Gazprom and Siemens to carry out important and urgent tasks such as technical support for the Russian LNG projects and also production of equipment required for the LNG plants at Russian enterprises”, – Alexey Miller said.

“Siemens has always put special attention to cooperations in and with Russia. We are actively developing our business in Russia by making large investments in local facilities along with implementing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies. Gazprom is a long-term partner. Today we have taken another step to strengthen our cooperation in a strategic area”, – said Peter Löscher.
