OJSC “TGC-9” is performing a large-scale maintenance program in all its branches, which target is to prepare the equipment of power stations and heating networks for the winter period of 2008-2009. In the previous year of 2007 the maintenance schedule was 100% fulfilled, which allowed the Company to provide reliable and constant heat supply of the consumers during the autumn-winter period. In 2008 TGC-9 will assign more than 2.5 billion rubles for repair works including overhauls and mid-life repairs of 52 power units and all the necessary scheduled works on preparation of the heating networks.

Traditional suspension of summer stopped boilers, includes filling them with “water glass” solution (sodium silicate) and locking them with plugs. This is a labour-intensive operation which takes a lot of time and effort of repair crew and a big quantity of chemicals. In the course of repair campaign 2008 responding the suggestion of the Chemical department the engineers applied a new approach. After stopping heat water boilers are rinsed with “water glass” solution of double concentration. There is a constant circulation during 72 hours and then a boiler gets suspended being dry and having a protective film on its heating surfaces which formed after the processing.

This new method enables TGC-9 to save time (seven hot water boilers are prepared for suspension a month earlier) and resources, as the solution can be used several times when they enrich it with chemicals. As a result of the package plan on improving of feeding water quality, filtering materials selection – the surfaces of hot water boilers in course of operation became much more cleaner, which let the engineers to apply circulation method.
