CenterTelecom and Lipetsk regional authorities discussed the agreement on joint implementation of the information technologies development program in the region

On August 3, 2004, in Lipetsk, CenterTelecom General Director Ruben Amaryan met with Lipetsk region Governor Oleg Korolev.

The Governor highly praised the contribution made by CenterTelecom and its Lipetsk branch to develop modern infocommunications, and also mentioned that it would be impossible to implement the regional Program to create school Internet labs without CenterTelecom's systematic work aimed at providing Internet access.

CenterTelecom Lipetsk branch has been successful in performing this task. Along with that, further implementation of telecommunication technologies, training of experts in information and computer technologies require effort coordination and resources pooling both on behalf of the company and the local authorities.

At the meeting, the parties arrived at the conception that a joint project to provide Internet access to all schools of Lipetsk region as well as specialist training and introduction of modern information technologies were required.

CenterTelecom General Director Ruben Amaryan confirmed that his company was not only ready to provide for the development of the local infocommunication infrastructure but also to play the role of IT technologies system integrator. The company is fully equipped and licensed for this task.

The corresponding Agreement will be signed shortly.



Lipetsk region is leading in terms of schools computerization among other regions of Russia. Currently there are computer labs in practically all of the 375 secondary schools, and elementary schools computerization program is under way. Secondary schools currently have access to modem pools; broadband access is planned for. CenterTelecom Lipetsk branch is in the process of finalizing the construction of fiber optic data network that will cover all cities and districts of the region.

In 1H 2004 the branch's installed capacity was 312 865 lines. 60.02% of the exchanges are electronic (79.57% in the regional center, 27.18% in the rural areas). There are 62.2 lines per 100 households.
