The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Yury Boiko, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister.

The parties discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and marked fruitfulness of the current dialogue. The parties were unanimous saying that the negotiations on the terms and conditions for Russian gas supplies to Ukraine could obviously be finished by the end of 2011.

Summing up the meeting Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy signed an addendum to the current gas purchase and sale contract. The addendum entitles Naftogaz Ukrainy to pay for Russian gas supplies in roubles.

Background

On January 19, 2009 Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy signed two contracts:

• purchase and sale contract for the period from 2009 through to 2019;
• contract on volumes, terms and conditions of natural gas transit across Ukraine for the period from 2009 through to 2019.
