On working meeting between Alexey Miller and Yury Boiko

The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Yury Boiko, Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister.

The meeting discussed the issues related to the proposed merger between Gazprom and NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy. The parties agreed that the procedure could be implemented in a stage-wise manner.

“At the first stage a joint venture (JV) may be set up on a parity basis between the companies – 50 by 50 per cent. At the moment, it is necessary to outline the list of assets that can be contributed to the JV by each party,” noted Alexey Miller in the conclusion of the meeting.

Background:

On April 30, 2010, following the results of the Sochi meeting of the Economic Cooperation Committee under the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made a  proposal that Gazprom and NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy should merge.
