On working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov and Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn

The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, President – Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia.

The parties discussed the progress with the Agreement of Cooperation and the Accord on Gasification, placing a particular emphasis on the prospects for supplying the Republic of Buryatia with natural gas as part of the Eastern Gas Program.

It was highlighted that Buryatia’s gasification would be implemented in three stages. Starting from increased liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) delivery to the Republic at the first stage, Gazprom will subsequently supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the region at the second stage and pipeline natural gas at the third one.

Background:

Gazprom and the Republic of Buryatia inked the Agreement of Cooperation and the Accord on Gasification in 2008. The General Scheme for gas supply to and gasification of the region was approved in 2009.

At present, the Republic of Buryatia doesn’t receive natural gas.

The average LNG supply level in the region is 14.9 per cent (4.46 per cent in cities and towns, and 28.1 per cent in the rural area).

The state-run Development Program for an integrated gas production, transportation and supply system, taking into account potential gas exports to China and other Asia-Pacific countries (Eastern Gas Program) was approved by the September 2007 Order of the Russian Federation Industry and Energy Ministry. Gazprom was appointed by the Russian Government as the Program execution coordinator.
