In 2006 TGC-9 carried out large-scale environmental protection work.

In 2006 TGC-9 invested about 100 mln. rubles into environmental protection and usage of natural resources. The purpose of the environmental protection campaign is water resources conservation in which the company invested 43 mln. rubles, air protection - 45 mln. rubles, land protection and conservation - about 10 mln. rubles. In 2006 TGC-9 paid 24, 2 mln rubles for admissible emissions.

Due to the environmental protection work carried out in 2006 the company reduced nitric oxide emissions by 158 tn/year, boiler kettle ash emission by 461,6 tn. The major air protection events at TGC-9 production facilities in Perm Region were the introduction of two-stage combustion of fuel technology at Perm HPP-9 boiler, repair of fly-ash collector at Zakamsk HPP-5, fly-ash aspirating collector at Chaikovsk HPP-18, as well as agreement of sanitary protection area of Chaikovsk HPP. In 2006 in Sverdlovsk Region in order to reduce emissions into the air there were repaired fly-ash collectors and aspirating collectors of the fuel-supply channel at Nizhneturinsk SDPP, fly-ash collector at Bogoslovsk HPP, replaced the cyclone cell system of the Krasnogorskaya HPP, the boiler set at Artyomovsk HPP was converted to the natural gas popping process. In Komi Republic the major events related to environment protection carried out by TGC-9 were the following: modernization of boiler units and transfer of them a low-emission rotational fuel combustion (RFC-technology) at the Vorkutinskaya HPP-2, repair of fly-ash collectors at the boiler stations of the company in Vorkuta city and at Irtinsk HPP, repair of burners of the boiler units at Sosnogorsk HPP and further updating of operating cards and reduction of nitric oxide emissions.

Last year major measures on water protection were taken at TGC-9 facilities, including slope protection, ash disposal area dumping, examination of power plants waste water impact on the environment, monitoring of ash disposal and slime pits influence on the underground waters.

Due to the environmental protection measures there were no accidents with further harmful ecological consequences at TGC-9 industrial facilities in 2006. The company is currently planning to continue environment protection work. TGC-9 has approved the environmental policy program to be carried out up to 2009. According to the results of activity program implementation TGC-9 is planning to reduce nitric oxide emissions down to 35,9 thousand tn/year, sulfur oxide – to 59,9 thousand tn/year, ash – to 53,9 thousand tn/year, the planned investments into the program are about 200 mln. rubles. The program includes the preparation stage to introduction of Ecology Management System in the Company on the basis of ISO 14000 International Standard.
