Opening ceremony of Gazprom and CNPC Arts Festival held in China

Beijing (People’s Republic of China) hosted today an opening ceremony of the Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Arts Festival.

On the part of Gazprom the event was attended by Mikhail Sereda, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee – Head of the Management Committee Administration and Alexander Bespalov, Head of the Information and Communications Department. On the part of CNPC the event was attended by Zhang Xin, Director General of the International Department and Guan Xiaohong, Deputy Chief Economist – Director General of the Corporate Culture Department. Participating in the opening ceremony were also talent groups of Gazprom’s subsidiaries and CNPC.

“Two world leading energy companies – Gazprom and CNPC – have united their efforts to present the art of talented artists to the audience. In 2007 our business and economic partnership was added with a nice cultural project – the Arts Festival. I note with pleasure today that our Festival is a spectacular example of successful cooperation, friendship and respect to the original culture of different nations. The language of art, music and dance is understandable and familiar to everyone,” said Mikhail Sereda in his speech at the Festival opening ceremony.

“New opportunities are currently open up for the development of the Russian-Chinese partnership. Let’s keep our traditional friendship, deepen strategic interaction, join hands and make a maximum possible contribution to the economic progress of our countries,” said Guan Xiaohong.

The Festival recognized as one of the largest cultural exchange projects between Russia and China will be concluded with the joint concert of the Gazprom and CNPC talent groups on the stage of the Shanghai World EXPO 2010 participated by representatives of 192 countries.

Background:

Alongside the cooperation development in the energy industry, Gazprom and CNPC are interacting in the sphere of information, public relations, cultural and sponsorship projects implementation.

The Gazprom and CNPC Arts Festival is taking place in Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai from October 8 through October 16, 2010.

The Festival brought together over 50 winners of the Fakel Corporate Festival, representatives of Gazprom’s subsidiaries (Gazprom dobycha Urengoy, Gazprom dobycha Orenburg, Gazprom transgaz Nizhny Novgorod, Gazprom transgaz Yugorsk, Gazprom transgaz Makhachkala, Gazprom transgaz Ufa, Gazprom transgaz Tomsk) and the CNPC talent groups.

The joint concert of the companies’ talent groups was first held in April 2007 in China. The winners of the Fakel Corporate Festival have successfully performed in  Beijing, Langfang, Sian and Dalian in recent years while the CNPC talent groups repeatedly took part in the Fakel Corporate Festival held in  Gelendzhik.
