In 2003 regional branch of "UTK" PJSC, "Svyazinform" of the Astrakhan Region" executed all the planned tasks. In particular, 2003 branch's revenues from telecommunications services made RUR 710,666.2 thousand exceeding 2002 results by RUR 161,254.2 thousand (29,4 %). Share of income from key activity was 98,2 % of the Company's gross revenue, or RUR 697,675.7 thousand, a 29,5 %-increase over 2002. Revenues from value-added telecom services (Internet, ISDN, intelligent services, IP-telephony) increased by 41,2 % making RUR 21,929.1 thousand. The installed capacity grew by 17,567 lines in the last year. The equipped capacity grew by 18,280 lines reaching 211, 964 lines.
"Svyazinform" of the Astrakhan Region" pays great attention to installation of telephones for the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. In 2003 telecommunications workers worked hard in order to fulfill the plan on providing reliable telecom services of high quality to the veterans. As a result, telephones were installed for 337 invalids and 75 participants of the Great Patriotic war.
Every effort was bent to modernization of the pay-phone network. In 2003 700 universal pay-phones of UTEK-002 type using ??? were installed. Universal pay-phones makes 72,1 % of the total number of pay-phones of the branch.
In 2003 the branch also paid much attention to development of new technologies. The central access node to Internet located in the regional center was modernized and considerably extended. Total number of digital modems in Astrakhan exceeded 540. At the end of the year volume of information consumption exceeded 1 terabyte per month. Capacity of the channels providing access to Internet was doubled increasing up to 4 ?egabyte/sec. To attract even more number of Internet users, the network of public Internet access centers was created including those situated at the local telecommunications centers. The governor of the Astrakhan Region and UTK regional branch concluded the agreement on providing access to Internet for public schools.
In 2003 the construction of a new network based on IP MPLS technology started in Astrakhan, Kamyzyakski, Limanski, Ikryaninski districts and Znamensk. Speed of data transmission via the new network will be up 4 times to 622?B\sec.
