Since July 5, 2004 Samara’s branch of OJSC “VolgaTelecom” starts test operation of mobile communication network of next generation based on CDMA450 technology (also known as IMT-MC-450). The network coverage area includes Samara city, Toliyatti town, Krasnyi Yar town, Kinel town, Syzran town, Novokuibyshevsk town and Otradnyi town. 

CDMA450 technology allows for providing mobile communication services of basically other level. Mobile phone of CDMA450 standard ensures reliable high-rate access to Internet at the rate up to 153 ?bps. Having connected the phone to a PC, CDMA450 subscriber is able within a minute to organize a mobile office and work in the Internet, to transmit and to receive data as efficiently as at his/her standard desk.

Indisputable advantages of CDMA450 technology are better voice quality, high level of security from audio interception due to embedded coding algorithm and low radiated power of phone sets.

The services of CDMA450 network in Samara’s oblast will be provided under the brand name “StriZH”. Besides, during the period of the network test operation till August 1, 2004 voice communication services will be provided to the subscribers free of charge. At “StriZH” sales center (Samara city, Blukher str., 30) all those who wish may test “mobile Internet” and estimate the rate and the quality of connection.

CDMA technology has been in application since the middle of the 1990s, currently it is the closest to 3G networks among all mobile communication standards that are in operation on the territory of Samara oblast. CDMA450 mobile communication network operates at 450 MHz frequency range and combines the capabilities of voice and data transfer at the rates up to 153 Kbps.
