It was the third inspection audit after Severstal quality management system certification on conformity to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000.

Note: The Severstal quality management system was certified on conformity to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 in Dec. 2002.

During two days the inspection group carried out random examination of processes and separate elements of the quality management system on conformity to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 in Technical, Commercial, Production and Personnel Administrations. The scope of the audit included management and HR development processes, planning of production, production of sinter, rolling of flat products at Mill 2800/1700 and square billets, as well as the process of the final product technical control and the provision of resources.

The program of the audit was aimed at the estimation of the companies' planned processes and was successfully realized. Serious approach of the Iron & Steel Company to the results of inspection audits and their use in the quality management system as the means for realization of improvements, was marked. Besides, dynamism in the work on perfection of processes in the Personnel Administration and in the Department of Production Planning was especially marked.

In accordance to the preliminary information, the next inspection audit will be aimed at estimation of the processes connected to the development of new types of products, coke and hot metal production, rolling of flats at Mill 2000, testing procedures and statistical methods application.
