COMSTAR and MTS set upon sales of all STREAM products and services in the MTS retail stores

April 7, 2010, Moscow: COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, and Mobile TeleSystems (MTS, NYSE: MBT), the leading mobile operator in Russia and the CIS, announce launching of sales of the full STREAM package, including broadband Internet and interactive digital television (IPTV ), in Moscow retail stores of MTS.

Starting from April 2010, customers will be able to sign contracts for STREAM services in more than 100 MTS retail stores in Moscow. You may choose any STREAM price plan and IPTV service, lease user equipment (modem or decoder) and purchase a universal product box in the stores. You may also buy a WiMAX COMSTAR subscription in MTS stores. Customers are served by selling assistants.

“We are now at a very important stage of integration with MTS – this is the stage of bringing together sale channels targeted at individual customers. Thanks to systematic strategic and tactical actions, we are gradually coming closer to our ultimate goal – provision of converged communication services. A well-developed chain of MTS stores is definitely a very attractive sales channel. It will bring us as close to our customers as possible, since now, all STREAM services are sold in more than 100 outlets all over Moscow, near to our potential subscribers. Besides, due to wide MTS brand recognition, we will be able to enhance efficiency of our interaction with current and potential customers and eventually increase our sales,” Sergey Terpugov, Commercial Director for Mass Market Operation of COMSTAR-UTS, says.

“We are systematically implementing the strategy of MTS transformation into a universal operator providing its subscribers with a whole range of telecom services in its points of sale. The range of services offered in MTS retail stores enhanced with broadband Internet under the STREAM brand and IPTV will allow us to improve user experience as users will be able to get the whole broad range of telecom services just a step away from their home or work,” Alexander Popovsky, Director of MTS Russia, notes.

As a part of COMSTAR-UTS integration with MTS, the following marketing measures have been implemented. Starting from December 2009, a number of MTS stores sell the Internet Package product box of the Moscow City Telephone Network, a member of COMSTAR-UTS Group. Besides, in these stores, users may pay a single bill of MGTS that includes bills for local, intra-zonal, intercity and international voice communication and broadband Internet. Concurrently, MTS stores have set upon sales of the STREAM universal product box. Besides, since the beginning of this year, COMSTAR services have been sold in MTS stores in Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm and Novokuznetsk. During 2010, the company plans to set upon sales of fixed communication, Internet and cable TV services in MTS retail stores in all the cities of COMSTAR presence.
