TGC-2 brings on line a new 115 MW capacity turbine unit at Yaroslavl CHPP-2

On March 15 was conducted the official ceremony of putting in operation a new steam turbine unit at Yaroslavl CHPP-2, which is included in JSC "Trritorial Generating Company # 2" (TGC-2). It is not only the most powerful generating set on the terriory of Yeroslavl region but also is one of the largest in Russia. Total cost of project development and turbine unit installation is estimated to be RUB830 million. Putting on line a new generating unit allowed increasing the installed electric capacity of Yaroslavl CHPP-2 by 55% from 210 to 325 MW. The station"s heat capacity grew from 1,005 Gcal/h to 1,185 Gcal/h.

JSC "TGC-2" Director General Andrey Vagner, Business Unit # 1 RAO "UES of Russia" CEO Igor Ischenko, Head of Yaroslavl region Fuel, Energy and Tariff Control Department Alexander Korotkov, 1st Deputy Mayor of Yaroslavl City Sergey Yastrebov and representatives of other organizations took part in the official ceremony.

- I congratulate all energy sector personnel together with those who took part in turbine unit installation with this wonderful event, - said Andrey Vagner at the official gathering dedicated to the launch of a new generating unit. - We haven"t been launching new equipment for many years. The last turbine in Yaroslavl was put in operation in 1970. I am glad that our company staff went through years preserving its skills and that the new comers comply with these high standarts as well.

Business Unit # 1 RAO "UES of Russia" CEO Igor Ischenko pointed out that the modernization program of TGC-2 is only at the start up phase and every following year it will be accelerating its pace. The TGC-2 Investment Program is already developed and soon it will have to be adopted on RAO "UES of Russia" Board of Directors Meeting. The technical upgrade is planned to be partly financed by the TGC-2 additional share issue. The total amount of money spent on Investment Program till 2010 is approximated to be RUB16 223 million.

In 2009-2010 it is planned to acquire two gas turbine units for Yaroslavl CHPP-2, while in 2013-2015 two coal blocks 115MW capacity each are intended to be built there. They are going to be more efficient than the current equipment. Old units will be taken down after they have used up its resources.

- By putting the turbine unit in operation at Yaroslavl CHPP-2 we are starting up a new stage of our company development process, - implementation of a broad Investment program in all regions of the company presence, - pointed out Andrey Vagner.- New equipment will help to make production process more efficient and reliable and ensure continuous heat and energy supply to our clients.

Company Profile
JSC "Territorial Generating Company # 2" (JSC "TGC-2") was established in February 2005. The Company"s Director General is Andrey Vagner. TGC-2 comprises generating capacity of 6 regions - Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kostroma, Novgorod, Tver and Yaroslavl.

Since July 1, 2006 TGC-2 functions as a unified Company. TGC-2 operates 16 heat power stations, 8 boiler-houses, 4 enterprises of thermal networks. The aggregate electric capacity of TGC-2 enterprises is 2 582,5 MW, the installed thermal capacity constitutes 12 471 Gcal/h.

The Authorized Capital of JSC "TGC-2" amounts to 7 117 127 045 rub and is spread over 700 328 533 458 ordinary shares and 11 384 171 043 preferred shares with the face value of 1 kopec. The main shareholder of the company is RAO "UES of Russia" which owns 49,18% of shares.

Yaroslavl region Central Administrative board includes CHPP-1, CHPP-2, CHPP-3, Yaroslavl heat networks, aslo included as subdivisions are Lyapinskaya and Teninskaya boiler houses. Currently the installed electric capacity of Central Board TGC-2 for Yaroslavl region constitutes 901 MW, thermal capacity estimated to be 4 147 Gcal/h. Central Board TGC-2 for Yaroslavl region operates 238 km of trunk heat networks.
