Moscow. 2 June 2004. In May 2004, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 50.1 billion kWh, up 7.7% on the corresponding period of 2003, thus ensuring the increase in energy consumption in the country.

Throughout Russia, the electricity consumption last month totalled 67.2 billion kWh, an increase of 4.2% in year-on-year terms.

The electricity production by hydroelectric power plants of the Holding Company reach 12.9 billion kWh, up 11.2% on the corresponding period last year. The increase in the HPP output of RAO "UES of Russia" was due to efficient use of the high water inflow on the Siberian rivers. The thermal power plants of Holding Company RAO "UES of Russia" produced 37.2 billion kWh, up 6.6% in year-on-year terms. This has been achieved, among other things, thanks to the stable fuel supply to the TPPs of RAO "UES of Russia".
