Samara distribution grids have reduced loss of electricity in electrical grids

Results of the work to reduce the loss of electricity in grids were summarized in Samara Distribution Grids Branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti).

Compared to the same period last year, the loss of electricity decreased by 44.236 million kWh, which amounts to 130.487 million rubles in monetary terms. Reduction of losses was achieved due to implementation of a number of organizational and technical measures.

An important role in optimization of losses is played by changing the mode of operation of the grid and improving the electricity metering system, including the installation of smart metering devices with remote data collection, as well as the installation of antimagnetic seals. Thus, since the beginning of the year, more than 2,100 electricity metering devices have been installed in total.

As part of the “Measures on Sealing with Special Magnetic Field Indicators (Antimagnetic Seals) of Energy Metering Devices Not Equipped with Built-in Magnetic Sensors”, the antimagnetic seals are being installed – by the end of the year, the power suppliers plan to install over 135 thousand seals. The measures on identification and suppression of unaccounted and non-contractual power supply have also contributed to the reduction of losses. Since the beginning of the year, the employees of the branch conducted 181 consumer raids, the purpose of which is to identify and prevent the theft of electricity. As a result of this work, 181 cases of unaccounted consumption and 5 facts of non-contractual consumption were recorded for a total volume of more than 2,667 thousand kWh. 9 facts of use of magnets were identified. For all the facts of intervention in the metering devices and illegal connection, applications to the law enforcement agencies were sent to bring the violators to administrative responsibility. The low level of power losses directly has a positive effect on the quality of power supply to consumers. That is why the Samara Distribution Grids Branch pays special attention to this focus area. Strengthening the work to combat energy theft, power suppliers primarily protect the interests of bona fide consumers, as unauthorized connections and illegal use of electricity take part of the power and increase the load on the power grid, and therefore entail a reduction in the quality of power supply.
