COMSTAR - UTS

January 13, 2011

COMSTAR is a telecom partner of Moscow Domodedovo Airport

13 January 2011, Moscow. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (OAO COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, has become a telecom partner of Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

The operator’s experts have installed additional 9 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines (FOL) and mounted full-fledged communications centre based on the hardware by Cisco and Axerra Networks. Domodedovo airport industrial complex has been connected to a multiservice Next Generation Network (NGN) of COMSTAR-UTS.
Tenants of the air-terminal complex and other airport facilities, air carriers, passengers and visitors of Domodedovo airport now have an access to such services as intercity and international telephone communication, broadband Internet access, enterprise-level VPN networks.

“Domodedovo is the largest airport in Russia and Eastern Europe. We realized the challenge set by the project from the very beginning, as early as at the design development stage. Modern airport is an integral complex including both airport infrastructure facilities and customer areas – restaurants, shops, lounges, VIP and business lounges, etc. We were able to offer an optimal solution based on the Triple Play concept that combines conventional and IP telephony, wired and wireless broadband Internet access and multimedia content transfer. Moreover, air carriers, tour operators offices and banks doing their business at the airport are interested in the services that enable interconnection of their offices located at different Moscow airports into a single network. We were the first communication operator to make it possible”, says Dmitry Dronov, head of COMSTAR-UTS Moscow oblast branch.

Communications network of COMSTAR-UTS allows easy scaling of a scope of services and prompt introduction of new services for the benefit of subscribers, including such in-demand and high-tech services as video conference communication, intelligent communication services based on IP Centrex and VPN (Virtual Private Networks).
COMSTAR-UTS serves over 200 customers – domestic and foreign companies doing business in civil aviation.
