ROSSETI

February 19, 2017

Head of "Rosseti" and Mongolian Minister of Energy discussed their countries’ strategy for electric power systems development

Oleg Budargin, General Director of PJSC "Rosseti", and Purevzhavin Ganhuu, Mongolian Minister of Energy, met in Ulan Bator where they discussed the development of electrical network between Russia and Mongolia, including the technical conditions allowing to unlock export-import potential in countries’ power supply. Led by Mongolian Minister the parties discussed the prospect of mutual strategy for the North-East Asia Systems integration. In the long term it will provide an opportunity to create an energy ring. Considering the existing relationship with Mongolia this project shall allow power supply with the required output to North-East Asian countries, both from the Siberian power grid and Mongolian RES.

The possible engagement of Rosseti experts in modernization and reconstruction of Mongolian energy infrastructure was also discussed in this context.

The session was attended by the Government representatives of Republic of Tyva. It bears reminding that on February 16 during his visit to Tyva Oleg Budargin discussed regional energy development strategic issues with Sholban Kara-ool, the head of this region. In particular, parties brought an issue concerning the export of electricity generated on the Siberian hydroelectric facilities and its subsequent transit through Tyva to the neighboring countries.

Representatives of Mongolia confirmed their interest in establishing an export corridor for electricity transit from Russia to Mongolia and other Asian countries.

The parties expressed their willingness to continue the discussion on issues raised during the visit in order to develop long term cooperation.
