Moscow, October 30, 2002 - RBC Information Systems (RTS: RBCI; MICEX: RU14RBCI4001) was selected as a provider of IT solutions for the Internet portal of Russian mass media, which would be created under the framework of the Electronic Russia federal program. The tender commission of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade announced the winners of the 7th lot of the Electronic Russia federal program (2002-2010). The official name of the lot is 'The contribution to the introduction of ICT (information and communication technologies) in the mass media, providing software and hardware for computer network connection nodes'. The major performer is Garant-Park-Internet and co-performer is RosBusinessConsulting, which will develop an Internet portal for the mass media. The primary function of this portal is to assist regional and municipal mass media in placing information content on the Internet. To accomplish this task, RBC will provide required software solutions along with training programs for the users of RBC's products.

Among other participants of the winning consortium are such companies as Mediasoyuz, Algorithm Group and Public Library.
Earlier RBC and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade signed a contract for the implementation of the 9th lot of the Electronic Russia program. This portion of the federal program is devoted to the organization of contests for the best Russian region in terms of ICT use. The government selected RBC as the major performer of this project.
