The Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of Russia awarded employees of N.W.Telecom for their active role in the events dedicated to the 150th birthday celebration of A. S. Popov.
The Honorary Diploma of the Russian Federation Ministry of Communications and Mass Media was awarded to:
- Viktor N. Pakshin, station segment telecommunication engineer, Komi Branch of North-West Telecom.
Commendation was announced to:
- Vikenty A. Kozlov, Regional Manager / General Manager, Komi Branch of North-West Telecom;
- Svetlana V. Sokolova, Public Relations Manager, Komi Branch of North-West Telecom.
During the year 2009, as part of the celebration of A. S. Popov’s 150th birthday anniversary, the Komi Branch of North-West Telecom implemented several important projects. In particular, the Branch completed the construction of the fiber optic communication lines (FOCL) “Inta-Vorkuta” of the total length of 348 km, “Ukhta-Troitsko-Pechorsk” of the total length of 323 km, and “Ukhta-Vuktyl” of the total length of 246 km. It opened a Flagman category Sales and Customer Service Center in Syktyvkar. Since the beginning of 2009, as part of the Republic of Komi multiservice network expansion project, it has started up three stages of the network for a total capacity of 27,984 xDSL ports. The Branch sponsored a large-scale “Internet Abilities” action, during which, the Branch’s specialists presented demo lessons at the Republic’s secondary schools and at North-West Telecom service centers. The Branch also issued a thematic article headed “Dedicated to A. S. Popov’s Anniversary” and describing the development of telecommunications in the Republic of Komi in the periodical The Republic of Komi. A Business Magazine.
