Rostelecom is participating in the 27th annual Conference & Exhibitions held by the Pacific Telecommunications Council (Pacific Telecommunications Council, PTC) on 16 –19 January 2005 in Honolulu, Hawaii USA.
The theme for PTC'05 is "Broadband and Content: From Wires to Wireless". Its attendees - about 800 representatives of telecommunications companies from more than 60 countries – has taken part in a number of plenary sessions and round tables focusing on the value of content in broadband networks with its impact on infrastructure, the adoption and implementation of multiple forms of wireless communication as well as the future of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Among other things special attention is paid to the rapid development of VoIP that is estimated to have grown at an annual rate of over 30 percent in 2004.
The Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) is an international, non-profit, non-governmental membership organization with the mission to promote the development of telecommunications and information technology throughout the entire Pacific Hemisphere. Its annual Conference traditionally attracts top executives from the key players in the Asian-Pacific telecoms market.
This year Rostelecom, PTC’s member since 1995, is among the sponsors of the Conference - for the first time in its history. Rostelecom’s delegation is having a number of meetings with the representatives of international operators to discuss both establishing and enhancing lasting partnership as well as opening the Company’s new points of presence abroad. During the meetings many international operators have confirmed their keen interest in the service of high-speed Europe-Asia transit Rostelecom started offering in 2004.
