Moscow. 12 January 2005. According to recent reports, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity in 2004 by 2.5% year-on-year to 635.8 billion kWh from 652.0 billion kWh. In December 2004, RAO UES entities generated 66.3 billion kWh of electricity, 55.9 billion kWh of which was produced by thermal power plants and 10.4 billion kWh by hydroelectric power plants of RAO "UES of Russia".
During the past year, the hydroelectric power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 130.6 billion kWh, up 13.3% from 115.2 billion kWh in 2003. The Company's thermal power plants generated 521.4 billion kWh of electricity in 2004, which is nearly the same level as in 2003 (520.6 billion kWh).
Stable and uninterrupted operation of the RAO UES power plants, which were able to increase their generation, ensured growth in electricity consumption nationwide to 908.8 billion kWh in 2004, up 2.3% compared to 2003.
