joins the world’s largest sustainable development initiative
implemented under the auspices of the United Nations in accordance
with its principles and values with a view to expanding international
cooperation and contributing to addressing global challenges.
The United Nations Global Compact (UN GC) is the
largest voluntary international initiative designed to encourage
business worldwide to follow the principles of sustainable
development, implement responsible business practices and report
annually on its performance in this area.
Sustainability principles have always been an
integral part of ALROSA’s activities and are reflected in its
mission, strategic goals and daily work. ALROSA strives to contribute
to sustainable development, socio-economic well-being and healthy
natural environment in the regions of its operation, providing
employment opportunities and improving the living conditions of local
communities, ensuring significant tax revenues to budgets of
different levels, building social infrastructure and protecting the
environment.
By joining the UN GC ALROSA confirms its adherence
to the 10 fundamental principles of the organization as well as the
Company’s intent to promote addressing global challenges and
contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) 2030.

Participation in the UN Global Compact creates a
unique opportunity for ALROSA to consistently improve its
sustainability management approach, promote principles of responsible
business in the global diamond industry cooperation and
self-regulation development, as well as to exchange the knowledge and
experience at the leading international and Russian experts fora.
ALROSA is also a certified member of the
Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), World Diamond Council (WDC) and
Natural Diamond Council (NDC) and actively participates in
enhancement of the international sustainability standards for the
diamond and jewellery industries.
