The Gazprom Swan European Regatta featuring 40 crews on Swan yachts from seven largest European countries ended at Cowes (UK).
As part of the Regatta, the first Gazprom Swan 60 World Championship took place. The crew of Vladimir Lyubomirov, skipper of Russian yacht Bronenosec, Commodore of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club took the title of World Champions by winning 6 races out of 12. The team is sponsored by Gazprom.
“Vladimir Lyubomirov's team showed excellent style and competence. These are the qualities we highly appreciate and fully share with the crew,” said Vladimir Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.
“Having won the first Gazprom Swan 60 World Championship, I am overwhelmed with pride. Our team is really strong and I would like to thank all the crew members. This victory is certainly important for us as we are one of the founders of the class, and it is a great honor for us to be the leaders of the fleet. Now, having become better acquainted with the waters of Solent we will face the difficult Rolex Fastnet Race better prepared this August,” said Vladimir Lyubomirov.
