Aeroflot switches to winter timetable

On October 31, 2004, Aeroflot-Russian Airlines introduces winter timetable which will be valid till March 27, 2005.

Aeroflot route system and flight frequency is more intensive. Aeroflot increases its presence on international and home lines.

In comparison with last winter the flight frequency has increased for routes to Volgograd (from 7 to 21 a week), Ekaterinburg (from 14 to 28), Samara (from 14 to 21), Nizhni Novgorod (from 14 to 21), Krasnodar (from 14 to 28), Chelyabinsk (from 3 to 7), Ufa (from 7 to 14). Flight frequency has significantly increased for international routes to Vienna (from 7 to 11), Prague (from 7 to 10), Nice (from 3 to 4), Frankfurt (from 19 to 21), Berlin (from 19 to 21), Dusseldorf (from 7 to 14), Munich (from 12 to 14), Madrid (from 7 to 9), Barcelona (from 3 to 4), Belgrade (from 4 to 5), Istanbul (from 6 to 14), Antalya (from 2 to 3), Teheran (from 2 to 3), Beirut (from 2 to 3), Dubai (from 4 to 9), Delhi (from 8 to 10), Mumbai (from 4 to 7), Ulan Bator (from 1 to 2), Cairo (from 2 to 4).

For winter period flight capacity is increased for routes to Tokyo (on Wednesdays, Fridays - B777 instead of B767), Novosibirsk – (À 321 and Il-86), Munich (on Sundays by B777 instead of B737), Milan (À321 daily instead of À320), Cairo (À320 in order to improve the product). At the same time taking into account the seasonality in demand, flight capacities are reduced for routes to Geneva (À320 instead of À310), London (À320\321 instead of Il-96\À310).

For convenient change of planes of Aeroflot flights from South-Eastern Asia two of five flights to Belgrade will be made at night.

Departure time for flights to Copenhagen is postponed from morning to evening on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; instead of morning flight to Dubai (Su521\522 by Il-86) there will be made a night flight (Su519\520 byÀ320).

Aeroflot charter program in winter period provides daily flights to Malaga on Saturdays by A320, Hurgada - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays by Il -86, to Sharm El Sheikh - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays by Il-86, during New Year and Christmas holidays from January 03, 2005, to January 14, 2005 to Denpasar (Bali).

The distinctive feature of the coming winter season is regular and charter carriages within the end of the program of foreign air fleet change.

New liners received during this year started flights on routes provided for them immediately after delivery to Moscow. The program of renewal of medium-haul planes of À319/320/321 types will be finished when A321 is received from Hamburg at the end of November. Within the winter schedule these planes are to make flights to London, Paris, Milan, Teheran and other destination points.

All Aeroflot flights besides the official board numbers get names in memory of the outstanding Russian people: Airbuses – of Russian composers, Boeings – of writers and Il planes – of the legendary pilots. Airbuses received in November are to be named “Skryabin”, “Tchaikovsky”, “Musorgsky”.

Four freight carriers DC-10-40F will be regularly used in winter timetable for freight carriages increasing number of flights and broadening flights area. Regular freight flights are to be made to 8 airports of the worlds: Khan, Helsinki, Tokyo, Osaka, Peking, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Seoul. Significant flight increase compared with the last year is to be made for the route to Shanghai – 7 flights a week.

According to Aeroflot Director General Valery Okulov, “Thanks to the route optimization during the last two years we achieved significant improvement of results including financial ones. Aeroflot strategy of flights frequency increase, improvement of regularity and service level for the most attractive markets like the Western Europe, Russia and South-Eastern Asia proved its efficiency. We also realize advantages of partnership agreements with other international airline companies; this develops our route proposals and customer base. Intensive preparation for joining Sky Team provides additional potential of Aeroflot cooperation with the Alliance participants and has positive effect upon the airline company development.”

Aeroflot–Russian Airlines (RTS: AFLT) is the largest Russian Company. It was established in 1923. The state owns 51 per cent of its stocks. It controls 11 per cent of home and 39 per cent of international market of air carriages of Russia. There are 92 airliners in its fleet – 27 Airbus and Boeing planes produced in 2003-2004. Its headquarter is located in Moscow in Sheremetyevo Airport. It is going to build its own terminal Sheremetyevo–3 by 2007. Aeroflot makes flights to 93 destinations of 47 countries of the world. In 2003 Aeroflot transported 5.8 million passengers. The company is included into the list of 25 top airline companies of the world according to its financial results.
