Uralkali

December 30, 2004

Uralkali's annual production has reached the record of 5 million tons of potassium chloride in 2004. It is an unprecedented achievement in the Russian potash industry

Uralkali has set a record, unpresedented in the domestic potash industry. The company has produced 5 million tons of potassium chloride in 2004. Thus Uralkali has demonstrated a 14.2 percent production growth (or by 700 thousand tons more), compared with 2003. Just to illustrate: 5 million tons can be transported by a 73 thousand-car train spread out from Moscow to St. Petersburg twice.

"The 5 million ton achievement is one of the significant events in the company's history. It is the result of the serried and self-sacrificing work of Uralkali's specialists on all stages of the production process," said Sergei Dyakov, the technical director at Uralkali, "Not only unexampled investments in the modernization of the manufacturing sector but also high professionalism of all company's employees is the basis to this exceptional record."

Maxim Bakshinsky, general director at Uralkali, believes that setting a 5 million record is an evidence of success of Uralkali's strategy realization to gain the fair share in the potash Global market.

"Uralkali plans to increase the annual output every year further on by improving the effectiveness of all manufacturing processes as well as fulfilling the company's investment program. We plan to set a 5.3-milion record in 2005 and increase the production to 7 million tons by 2008. I believe the professionalism and high productivity of our personnel will be the main factor to gain the leading positions on the Global potash market," Bakshinsky said.
