2003 Best Diamond Jewellery Awards presented

On 19th May, 2004 in the framework of the annual New Russian Style exhibition ALROSA announced winners of its Best Diamond Jewellery Contest at a special ceremony in Gostiny Dvor in Moscow.

Some 120 foreign and 130 Russian companies are taking part in the New Russian Style Exhibition.

The Best Diamond Jewellery Contest is held by ALROSA for the 8th consecutive time and is part of the company’s comprehensive program aimed at reviving the traditions of Russian jewellery art and craftsmanship, popularizing works by best Russian jewellers, encouraging demand for diamond jewellery in the domestic market.

The contest was held in three major nominations:

    • Best Jewellery with Large and Medium-Sized Diamonds;

    • Best Jewellery with Small Diamonds;

    • Best Line in Diamond Jewellery

and a special nomination ‘Diamonds in the Avant-Guard Style’.

Some 70 applications were received. The winners in the major nominations are:

For Best Jewellery with Large and Medium-Sized Diamonds

1st Prize

2d Prize

Delight, jeweller A. Abramov,

For Best Jewellery with Small Diamonds

2d Prize

Butterflies necklace, designer L. Somova,

Kaholong, St. Petersburg

 

For Best Line in Diamond Jewellery

1st Prize

On the Edge rings, designer T. Teplinskaya, jeweller D. Sorokin,

Kostroma Jewellery Factory, Kostroma

 

2 Prize

Duet necklace, jeweller K. Vdovydchenko.

Kristall Jewellery Center, Smolensk.

In special nominations:

‘Diamonds in Avant-Guard Style’

Debut necklace, designer V. Chernova, jewellers M. Semernina, K. Andreus,

Kast, St. Petersburg

The winners received prizes, diplomas and prize money.

Speaking at the ceremony ALROSA’s Vladimir Kalitin said, ‘We, Russian diamond miners, are proud to have joined a very high mission – the creation of beauty. Let me congratulate all the winners of the 8th annual Best Diamond Jewellery Contest and wish them good luck and inspiration! Both are essential for an artist to have. I would also like to express my gratitude to the people who in word and deed help ALROSA revive Russia’s jewellery art and craft traditions, raise a new generation of jewellers and craftsmen.
