South Stream may branch off to Republika Srpska

A working meeting took place between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Milorad Dodik, President of the Republika Srpska.

The parties discussed possible construction of a gas lateral from South Stream to the Republika Srpska.

The meeting also addressed the issues of preparing the contract for Russian gas supplies to the country.

Background

The Republika Srpska is a political entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For the purpose of diversifying gas export routes, Gazprom is going to construct a gas pipeline across the Black Sea to Southern and Central Europe – the South Stream project.

Intergovernmental agreements have been signed with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria in order to implement the onshore gas pipeline section.
