Moscow, 9 April 2004. As some mass media have published notices about the record date for the Annual General Meeting of RAO UES shareholders, the Media Relations Department of RAO "UES of Russia" clarifies that, pursuant to Article 51 of the Federal Law "On Joint Stock Companies", the record date for making a list of persons entitled to take part in a general meeting of shareholders may not be fixed before the date on which a decision is taken to hold a general meeting of shareholders, and may not be more than 50 days before such general meeting.

As was announced previously, the AGM of RAO "UES of Russia" will be held on 30 June 2004 in Zelenograd, Moscow.
