The Council’s Presidium of Gazprom’s Inter-Regional Trade Union and the GASOIL PRESS Publishing House together with the Moscow Region’s Organization of the Russian Writers’ Union are announcing the “Fakel-2004” Literary Contest.

The Contest will be held in 3 Categories: Prose, Poetry and Journalism.

The Gazprom Group’s employees and GASOIL PRESS’ authors are welcome to send in their articles, interviews, essays, stories and poems.

The best entries will be published in the annual Literary Almanac “Fakel”. The Almanac is issued by the Contest arrangers. This year’s issue will be dedicated to the Gas and Oil Industry Worker’s Day. After re-examining the entries published in the Almanac, the Contest Committee will determine the “Fakel-2004” Literary Contest top prize winners.

In order to get published in the “Fakel” Almanac and take part in the “Fakel-2004” Literary Contest, all applicants should send their entries before 20 May 2004 to the following address: 117997, Moscow, B-420, GSP-7, 16 Nametkina St., to the editing team of the Gas Industry Journal (for the “Fakel” Almanac). The Literary Contest will for the first time be accompanied this year by the “Fakel-2004” Photo Contest to be held in 3 Nominations: Production, Portrait and Landscape Photo. The photos should be sent over by mail or by e-mail post@gas-journal.ru. The Subject of the message should be “Konkurs(Contest)-Fakel”. All photos should be in a JPEG format, a 300dpi resolution and a 1 Mb file size.

The rules of the Photo Contest are similar to those of the Literary Contest.

The “Fakel-2004” Contest winners will be awarded with cash prizes and honorable mention certificates. The cash prize amount is annually determined by the Contest arrangers based on the Contest Committee proposals.

The Judging Committee of the “Fakel (Torch)” Literary and Photo Contest is comprised of representatives from Gazprom’s Inter-Regional Trade Union, the GASOIL PRESS Publishing House and the Russian Writers’ Union.

In 2003 the “Fakel” Almanac team received entries from 300 applicants. 99 entries were published in the Almanac. 19 contestants were awarded with the “Fakel-2003” Contest awards. The “Fakel-2003” Contest Awarding Ceremony took place on 5 February 2004 at Gazprom’s Headquarters.
