Aeroflot and Cathay Pacific signed code-sharing agreement

Today Cathay Pacific Airline Company President David Turnbull and Aeroflot Director General Valery Okulov signed the Code-Sharing Agreement.

The Agreement was approved by the aviation authorities of Hong Kong and Russia and it is to start operating beginning from June 1, 2004. This is the first agreement signed with an airline company of Asian-Pacific region.

All the flights between Moscow and Hong Kong will be made by Aeroflot airliners (SU) ? 767/777. Cathay Pacific Airline Company (CX) has a number of seats for each flight. Beginning with the Summer Schedule of 2004 Aeroflot will make six flights a week on the route Moscow – Hong Kong.

Passengers who participate in Aeroflot Bonus (Aerfolt) or Miles (Cathay Pacific) programs will get scores in accordance with the program terms reserving seats for these flights.

According to Valery Okulov, the agreement will provide more efficient operation of both companies’ flights, sales increase, and use of tourist and business opportunities of both countries.

Aeroflot signed already agreements on joint carriages with 20 airline companies including CSA, LOT, Malev, Air France, Austrian Airlines and others.

AEROFLOT makes regular flights to 88 points of 42 countries of the world. In 2003 the airline company transported 5.8 million passengers.

Cathay Pacific makes flights to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Near East, North America and Asia. The air fleet consists of 86 airliners including ?330, ?340, ?747 and ?777.
