The GAZ-31105 Volga car, developed by engineers of JSC GAZ, is a restyling version of the former model GAZ-3110. In addition to improvement of a Volga chassis, carried out in 2003 (ball-joint suspension of front wheels, antiroll bar of rear wheels suspension, modernized gear box) the Volga cars of 2004 have substantial changes in appearance, lighting engineering and body equipment.
The main purpose of the changes is improvement of car appearance, improvement in design safety and usability of vehicles. As to the appearance of the GAZ-31105 car substantial changes of the front part of a vehicle were made: radiator case, front fenders and hood as well as front bumper were changed along with new head lamps. Keeping its cognition the car became neater and smarter , it got more aggressive in appearance. GAZ-31105 Volga vehicles are equipped with modern and effective head lamps of Osvar production (Vyazniki). These lamps represent a block, which combines optical elements of lower and high beam and a turn indicator, placed in a common case with a high-tensile light diffuser with free surface. In addition to effective and cognate appearance, the lamps have great optical properties providing proportional and intensive lighting of roads and flanks and increasing active car safety.
External light is managed by a driver with modern switches, which provide soft and precise switch with comfortably placed handles and clear symbols. Along with a switches block, design and arrangement of ignition lock and steering column were completely changed: a new compact ignition lock was moved to steering column side surface area, that provides more comfortable access; shape of steering column and style of steering wheel were also changed.
The next important change is a new style of external door handles with a horizontal pivot pin as well as new door locks of Brano (Czech Republic). Along with improved appearance that provides better door opening and low-noise lock service.
Front seats have also essential improvements: changes in profile and style of seat pads and seat-backs. In addition to more comfort provided for a driver and a front passenger, new front seats give more space above head, between steering wheel and seat's pad and more distance from steering wheel to seat's back. Due to a new reduced pad profile efficient space in front doorway was made substantially larger and that made front entrance more comfortable.
