Aeroflot has summed up its operating results for December and twelve months of 2003

Aeroflot-Russian Airlines operating results for December and twelve months of 2003 have been summed up.

In December Aeroflot carried 439,500 passengers (including 1,400 passengers of charter flights) and 10,900 tons of post and freight. There were made 1.454 billion passenger-kilometers and 192.5mln ton-kilometers. Operating volumes have increased in comparison with the last year according to all the indicators except of post carriages: according to passenger-kilometers – by 9.7%, according to carriage of passengers – by 8.1%, according to ton-kilometers – by 14%, according to freight carriage – by 11.9%.

Passenger seats’ occupation rate amounted to 69% and exceeded the last year rate by 5.5%. Percentage of enplaned traffic exceeded the last year level by 3.2% and amounted to 58.2 %. The actual flight time hasn’t changed in comparison with the last year (+52 hours or 0.3%).

According to the preliminary results during twelve months there were carried 5.844mln passengers and 114,200 tons of post and freight; there were made 18.203 billion passenger-kilometers and 2.253 billion ton-kilometers. Operating volumes have increased in comparison with the last year according to all the indicators: according to passenger-kilometers – by 3.2%, according to ton-kilometers – by 4.7%, according to carriage of passengers – by 6.5%, according to post carriage – by 0.1%, according to freight carriage – by 4.4%.

Percentage of enplaned traffic exceeded the last year level by 0.6% and amounted to 57.0%. Passenger seats’ occupation rate exceeded the last year level by 1.0% and amounted to 69.4%

They have flown in the aircraft fleet totally by 1.2% hours more than in 2002. The average daily flight time per a properly functioning plane amounted to 9.9 hours (vs. 9.6 hours in 2002).

Aeroflot Director General Valery Okulov estimated positively the airline company’s operating results: “all the main indicators exceeded the last year level. We have things to be proud of, we have things to work at.” He noted that according to the estimation of the European association of air carriers Aeroflot was one of the leaders among European companies due to the operating results in 2003.
