OJS FETEC will change international code of Ussuriisk, Primorsky region dated January 17, 2004 at midnight. At the same time five-digital numbers will be replaced by six-digital numbers.

New international code of Ussuriisk, Primorsky region will have four digits “4234” (previously “42341”) and long distance code within Primorsky region will be “24” (previously “241”).

All local five-digital numbers will be replaced by six-digital ones. Since January 17 all town numbers will start from “3” digit. All cellular phone owners will have replacement of five-digit numbers by six-digit- ones. Their numbers will start from “3”.

According to OJSC FETEC Primorsky branch director Nikolay Maksimenka five-digital numbers did not conform to the requirements of town telephone network further improvement and put the brakes on telecommunication infrastructure.

In 2003 FETEC reconstructed Ussuriisk telephone network. In September of 2003 ten-step exchange of DSH 54-? type having capacity of 5500 numbers was demounted and digital ATX-3 of Elcom type having capacity of 5800 numbers was installed (manufactured in Saint Petersburg). These works allowed increasing exchanges number capacity and extend list of extra telecommunication services such as call readdressing if line is busy, call readdressing if there is no subscriber’s reply, “don’t disturb” mode, conference communication of three subscribers, making references during call, temporary prohibition of outgoing calls (local, long distance or international), automatic alarm clock, number identification and many others.

Nikolay Maksimenka noted that telephone numbers replacement was a significant event for Ussuriisk and another proof of this Primorsky town successful development and growth.
