Gazprom’s delegation’s business trip to Far East Federal District finalized

Gazprom’s delegation finalized its business trip to the Far East Federal District.

Over 15 to 16 November, Gazprom’s experts paid a visit to the Sakhalin Island, meeting the authorities of the Sakhalin Region and leadership of Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz.

In the course of the meeting with Boris Gorkunov, Acting Governor of the Sakhalin Region, the parties addressed potential development of oil and gas sector of and projected gas deliveries to the Sakhalin Island. The meeting exchanged opinions on the development of oil and gas transmission networks and implementation of the Sakhalin Island and its offshore hydrocarbon field projects. Simultaneously, the parties debated the outlook of setting up oil and gas refining facilities in the Region and expressed a common opinion that Russian producers’ interests must be taken into account on a preferential basis when implementing projects and identifying gas supply preferences. The meeting also deliberated on the preparation of a cooperation agreement for signing and agreed to actively work in this direction.

At the same time, Gazprom’s delegation met executive leadership of Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz, got acquainted with the company’s organizational structure and major businesses. Gazprom’s representatives took a flight along the Okha-Boatasino-Poghibi-Lazarevo section of the Sakhalin-Komsomolsk-Khabarovsk gas pipeline, examined crane assemblies, receiving chambers as well as the in and out ends of the pipeline crossing via the Nevelsky Strait. The delegation inspected the pipeline design documents for and familiarized itself with activities by Rosneft-Sakhalinmorneftegaz’s Oil and Gas Pipeline Unit responsible for said facility operation.

In addition, the delegation examined the Okha gas distribution station and Sakhalinoblgaz’s gas facilities, visited RN-Vostoknefteproduct’s facilities (the town of Korsakov) and familiarized themselves with the progress in the construction of a liquefied natural gas production plant and oil exporting terminal being built in the settlement of Prigorodnoye within the Sakhalin-2 Project.

On 17 November, the city of Vladivostok hosted a working meeting between Gazprom’s delegation and the Primorsk Area’s authorities including Vice Governors Yuri Likhoyda, Viktor Gorchakov and Sergey Peredry.

The parties exchanged opinions on the development of the Far Eastern fuel and power sector and intensification of regional gas consumption. The meeting pointed to the need of launching joint activities aiming to study the expansion of the Sakhalin-Komsomolsk-Khabarovsk gas transmission network towards the city of Vladivostok for the purpose of channeling natural gas to consumers of the Primorsk Area within the 1st stage of the state-funded Program on setting up in Eastern Siberia and the Far East an integrated gas production and transmission network. The parties agreed to launch activities targeted at the preparation of a cooperation agreement between the regional authorities and Gazprom for signing.

Gazprom’s delegation started on its business trip to the Far East Federal District (FEFD) on 11 November. Gazprom’s representatives took part in a meeting of the RF Regional Authorities’ Coordinating Council under the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the FEFD, held meetings with leaders of the Khabarovsk Area and a range of FEFD-based fuel and power companies. The delegation examined regional fuel and power facilities, addressed potential development of the FEFD’s gas industry, debated the construction of the 1st line of the Sakhalin-Komsomolsk-Khabarovsk gas main and pondered on other topical matters.
